This hood is a cheaper alternative to our Restoration Correct hood we offer. If your looking to save some money and do not demand to have the best quality avalible this would be a great choice. In 1967-1968, all Firebird 400 cars including The Ram-Air came with same dual scooped hood. If you ordered the Ram-Air Option, your Firebird came with the standard, closed 400 hood scoops. The Ram-Air package came in the trunk which included the functional scoops installed only by the Pontiac dealer. This hood is a direct bolt on to your 1968-1969 Firebird but will also work for your 1967 if you replace the hood latch with one for a 1968 Firebird 400. The 1969 400 hood latch will work as well; but the hood latch pull is a rod not an arm. NOTE: The 1967 400 hoods are unique. The under side of the hood is slightly different were the catch hole is. The hood latch is also different it does not have the extra safety catch tab on the right side. The secondary safety catch in 1967 relies only on the spring to shove it into the path of the upcoming hood. In 1968 they changed the catch on the underside of the hood. The 1968 latch has an extra ear sticking out on the passenger side to force the safety catch into place if the primary catch releases. In 1969 the hood remained the same as 1968, the hood latch also remained the same. the only diffrence was the hood latch pull was changed to a rod.
